Our Programme
Wider Reading Programme
A structured super-curricular programme designed to help students engage with career-related reading. It provides the structure, accountability and academic guidance many students need in order to turn reading into genuine intellectual development.
Clear Academic Targets
From the outset, students work towards clear academic targets — identifying possible HPQ or EPQ topics, beginning admissions-focused exploration, or selecting a likely career stream.
Weekly Reflections
Over six months, students complete weekly reading reflections with regular feedback, plus six monthly mini research projects to consolidate ideas in a wider academic context.
Mentor Meetings
Monthly one-to-one meetings with a Reading Mentor where comprehension is tested, key concepts are discussed and understanding is extended through guided conversation.
Applied Learning
Mini-Projects
The mini-projects form an important part of the programme. Each month, students produce a short applied piece of work based on what they have been reading. These tasks encourage students to translate reading into output and gradually build readiness for more independent academic work.
Path Builder
Path Builder is our enhanced version of Wider Reading with additional structure, oversight and strategic guidance over an extended period of time.
It goes further by adding extra steps around monitoring, direction-setting and progression. This includes involvement from a Progress Tutor, closer oversight of academic development, more target-setting and stronger links between reading, subject exploration and longer-term planning.
